What is Cloud?
The term cloud refers to a network or the Internet. It makes it possible for the user to access the information from anywhere at any time.
The cloud provides many services for the everyday computer users as well as large and small businesses. One necessity is that the user needs to have an internet connection in order to access the cloud.
Cloud is a group of computers arranged together in same or distinctive geological areas, working together to serve a number of clients with the various workload and need on request premise.
Cloud is basically provided by large distributed data centers. These data centers are frequently composed of the grid and the cloud is based on top of the grid services.
What is Cloud Computing?
According to Forrester, Cloud Computing is :
“A form of standardized IT based capability-such as Internet based services, software or IT infrastructure- offered by a service provider that is accessible via Internet protocols from any computer and is always available and scales automatically to adjust to demand, is either pay-per-use or advertising based, has Web or programmatic-based control interfaces and enables full customer self-service.”
In other words, Cloud Computing is a distributed computing paradigm that focuses on providing an extensive variety of clients with conveyed access to scalable, virtualized equipment and/or programming foundation over the web.
Cloud Computing refers to manipulating, configuring and accessing the applications online. A simple example of Cloud Computing is webmail.
CHARACTERISTICS OF CLOUD COMPUTING:
The National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) has defined certain attributes for Cloud Computing. The attributes are:
On-demand self-service:-
It approves clients to ask for resources on runtime. It gives cloud resources on request to the end clients at whatever point they are required.
Broad Network Access:-
Access to resources in the cloud is accessible over the various gadget. This not just incorporates the most widely recognized devices (example laptops, workstations, etc) but also includes mobile devices, thin clients and so on.
Resource Pooling:-
Cloud Providers serve different clients, customers with temporary and versatile administrations. These administrations can be adjusted to suit every customer’s needs with no changes being obvious to the customer or end client.
Rapid Elasticity:-
It is the capacity to; give scalable services. It enables clients to consequently ask for extra space in the cloud or different sorts of services.
Measured Services:-
It is a reference to services where the cloud supplier measures or screens the arrangement of services for different reasons, including charging, effective use of resources or overall predictive planning.
Excellent description. I think the words “Cloud Computing” are very unfortunate words and lead the uninitiated into thinking the data resides someplace in the air. You did a great service in explaining this. Also, love your website–colors and layout. Take care.
