An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Posted by

Humans in the modern era have developed a concept called as ‘Artificial Intelligence’, which also increased its popularity with the exponentially growing computer inventions, high speed processing and less latency. Basically, the concept of ‘AI’ deals with making or constructing machines and algorithms which are equivalent and have the capability to compete human intelllect.

According to John McCarthy, AI can be defined as ‘The science and engineering of making powerful and smart systems”. AI is accomplished by studying how human brain thinks, and how humans learn, decide, and work while trying to solve a problem, and then using the outcomes of this study as a basis of developing intelligent software and systems.

Main Objectives of AI :

  • To build expert/ smart systems
  • To implement human intelligence in machines and increase their intellect.
  • To observe the potential and capability of machine to compete human brain.
  • Make machine think, understand and behave like human.
Domains of Artificial Intelligence

Apart from the above mentioned fields in the figure, other domains covered or contribute to AI are Computer Science, Philosophy,Biology, Maths, Sociology, Neuron Science, and Psychology.

Applications of AI :

  • Gaming
  • Natural Language Prcoessing
  • Expert Systems
  • Natural User Interface
  • Speech Recognition
  • Handwriting Recognition
  • Intelligent Robots

So, friends i guess that all the key points and concepts are covered with this first post of ‘AI introduction’. In the next post, i’ll be elaborating a theory related to expert systems and the machine learning algorithms which are used for making these expert / smart system. Stay Tuned !!
